Okahu Comp Game 6 - Pointless

Its not about how many barks a dog has, its about how hard it bites. We had only four players to take out the the first third of the game, whilst the other team had good numbers with a sub box full of white legs ready to run. Yet they wasted their energy quarreling amongst one another, and luckily for us, they didn't really know how to play the game (or some of its rules too for that matter) and even with two men on the field down, we led about 4-3. Then Dean and David came along - better late than never - and from there we could finish it off to win 8-3.

In no particular order - Kerhan got a hat trick: Nick ran dummy down their short side and somehow even though it was theoretically 4 vs 6 on the field, we had numbers and he dived into the corner; Kerhan later ran between two players for an easy old school run-faster-than-them try and got the third by taking a quick tap and running through the offside defenders who's touches were invalidated. Nick grabbed his brace in similar fashion: running through defenders twice. All these tries were long-range - very unlike our team!
Latecomers Dean and David played particularly well and got their own. Dean splintered their defence from within our own half, David got yet another long range one. To finish it off, he scored off a simple quickie, to add some shape that our game usually consists of.

Their fellas luckily only had one move: run from dummy and hope like hell that a gap appears somewhere. It did work for them three times - despite workaholic defensive work by Martin and Sean they kept picking on their side to score their lot.

Lesson to be learnt: Get to our games on time!!!!!

Christmas season has arrived, and we'll be taking a break. Not only can we celebrate the birth and the reality of Immanuel, we'll get to reflect on winning this one - and how to win the rest of them too.
