We played the brothers, which were only three of them as apparently most of their boys went off for Work Christmas functions. Typical, work always gets in the way of the true spirit of life: Sport. They made up their numbers with their sisters though, it was pretty much their mixed team. So, our mens team should be able to take them out right? Wrong, we lost 4-2.
We scored quite early, before two of their brothers showed up - Sean sold a dummy to a girl and ran through her defence. Good work Sean - picking on the ladies. Almost had another couple after that - Kerhan scooped through the ladies and passed it to David who was apparently 'out' - kinda hard to tell when the bloody rugby club doesn't even paint its dead ball lines. Joe scooped through the ladies (again) but got touched before he could give it to the two free guys outside him. Maybe he liked the attention...
When their three boys had all arrived, they ran the show - just as men ought to in families. Their ladies did all the hard work of getting them up the field - the men took the glory and made the scoring plays. That's mixed touch alright, a brilliant example of the days of the World wars, instead of metrosexual men in touch with their feelings (as well as girls feelings) and women who wanted to call the shots and wear jeans, the clothes of mineworkers. Turns out one of their guys musta been a metrosexual though... he wore pink tights over his arms. He was a bit of a psycho too, arguing over touches, arguing with the ref, giving us a good shove at the touch, simply giving us shit that was highly unnecessary. Its a pity, the others on the team had a much better attitude than him.
Our second try came from Nick scooping through (but it was through one of their guys this time) and found Kerhan to score. Their tries on the other hand were great - nice and constructed. Their ladies did brilliant work to finish of the overlaps created by their brothers.
On a side note, our team is plagued by knee injuries. Jimmy Dai confirmed that he'll be in need of reconstruction (I'm praying for God's blessing over him as I write this) and will be out for six months. Jimmy Chong has a minor knee issue, and Ops blew his knee during this game. He's going to be out for the season too - it was an old injury. The poor sod, but at least he'll be able to come to the team BBQ as his stomach seems okay.
